Crossing The Pond

Oxford, Oxfordshire

My entire teenage existence consisted of two movies “What A Girl Wants” and “Chasing Liberty”. Both included crazy trips to foreign countries with crazy adventures. Now at the age of of 24 (almost 25…ugh) I had barely even seen the United States let alone left it.

Now was my chance. I had an opportunity to go for only a few days, but they would be some of the coolest days of my life. I was headed to England. Oxford to be exact and I can say, it was so worth it. I have never seen such pretty architecture in my life.

I was there for 2 days on business so with my time being limited, I wanted to see as much as possible. Lucky for me, my hotel couldn’t have been more magical. The Malmaison is the former prison of The Oxford Castle and where I would only spend moments as there was so much to see. Although some of my time would be spent at the lovely coffee/wine bar downstairs.

Only a few streets away from Downtown Oxford, I walked and walked finding some of the most incredible buildings I’ve ever seen. Pubs were even gorgeous to look at!

What I didn’t know, was work was going to bring me to the most extraordinary place of all….Aynhoe Park in The Cotswolds.

Lions, Tigers, and Polar Bears?

James Perkins is the millionaire owner of the famous Aynhoe Park, known to be the craziest house in the London area. It surely lives up to its name. Taxidermy including Polar Bears, Lions, Zebras, Crocodiles, and Giraffes. Guest books with names you could only imagine (Kate Moss, Madonna, Rita Ora, and little old me included….and still can’t believe). Butlers and bartenders bringing you water in crystal glasses. I can’t even believe this place exists and pictures of the inside just don’t do it justice. It feels like a dream.

Magic and wonder is the only way to describe this place. The trip of a lifetime. Mandy and Amanda would be proud (lol).

My first adventure, many more to come. I’ve officially caught the wanderlust bug.
